Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: Release Date and Project Collossus Tag Outed

Until last night, we haven’t heard any solid details on Modern Warfare 3 for a while now, but this may be about to change with one rumor that is now floating around. Modern Warfare 3 has apparently been given a codename by Activision, and we have the rumored release date for when the game will be out.

Activision released their financial results for Q1 a few hours ago, and at the same time confirmed that a new Call of Duty game will be announced soon. However, those were the only details they revealed but we have some new information on this thanks to an article published by Eurogamer.

According to their multiple sources, the new Call of Duty game is codenamed Project Collossus, and that the game will be released on November 8th 2011. Just to refresh your memory, both Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were released on November 9th and 10th back in 2009 and 2010 respectively, so we can already put some strength behind these rumors that Tuesday November 8th is the new date for MW3.

The tag ‘Project Collossus’ sounds interesting though, does it give a hint that Activision’s new game will be the biggest Call of Duty game in history in terms of included content? – We hope so. As long as the multiplayer is kept to the same format, single player is improved and there’s a fully fledged offline and online co-op campaign, we’ll be happy.

Let us know your thoughts on the Project Collossus name and the potential November 8th date.
