Eurogamer has scored the game an 8, saying that the campaign mode is ‘relentlessly aggressive and spectacular’ and the multiplayer mode adds smart tweaks on already ‘working’ formulas. IGN US on the other hand have scored the title an 8.5, saying that Black Ops is ‘certainly worth your time’ and even going as far to say that the Single Player campaign is ‘the best single player in a Call of Duty game’ to date.

Definitely the trailers are not the game. Or is the game not the trailers? Best mode of this game is the ability to play the muti player offline, allows the non hard core cant aim and slow react types like myself to hone skills. Confused with the choice of weapons available. Like that boosting has been handle. Maps seem to large for free for all Like stats that are shown. Dont see any benefit to buying guns and gear because if one can ramp up quickly the better they r to get more stuff. Graphics are odd I dont know… Read more »

this game is a let down BIG TIME!
compared to the awesome mw2 which imo was perfect for its release date a year ago (great graphics/polished story line/greta multi player with loads of customization options etc.) this is a MAJOR step back!
the graphics are poor and outdated, the storyline is linear and uninvolving, multi player maps are just ok, less scope to customize your character etc.

im sorry i bought this, i'm going back to mw2 – better game all round..

The Campaign part for me, is the best one I've played from any previous Call of Duty games. Also, the graphics on the campaign are outstanding..Now, for the multiplayer??? I think its a bit choppy in gameplay, the graphics are not the best, and it just feels like a step forward from World at War, but a step backwards from Modern Warfare 1. After playing the Modern Warfare 1 and 2 games, Black Ops feels a bit dated on Multiplayer… 9 for the Campaign, inclusion of Zomies online play and hidden easter eggs, 8 for the regular multiplayer.

Why do all these reporters, reviewers give the game a good review? They must be previous fans or biased in some other way. I am new to COD, just purchased my first game. Well, I'd rather catch a COD, freeze it and then beat myself in the nuts with it than go back in the lounge and play another minute of that annoying, linear, pointless game. Returning it tomorrow (To sainsburys not the sea, the game that is, not the fish). So my nuts hurt but at least I have a frozen Cod to put on them. COD not COD… Read more »

VERY similar to MW2. They could have just released these maps for it.

This is a solid game, but it isn't a 9 or >. The graphics are cartoonish and the gameplay isn't as fluid as MW2. I really like the game, but it's a WAW repack.
