Byline Free: New iPhone RSS News Reader app

Owners of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch can now get a free version of the Byline RSS news reader app. Byline free has all the same features of the successful paid version of the app but is supported by iPhone specific ads.

Released by Phantom Fish users can synchronize up to 1000 starred items, new items, folders, and notes using a free Google Reader account. Items can be viewed by individual feed or folder, while a new edit option allows starring items and marking unread/read in bulk. Articles and their links are viewed via an inline browser, and can be shared using Twitter or sent in full by email.

Users of the app have offline access to all articles and embedded images, and the offline browsing feature gives instant access to full web pages. Web pages are automatically cached for feeds with truncated content.

Byline Free 3.1 is free on the App Store, with the paid version available for $4.99. Requires iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with OS 3.0 or later.
