B&W reveal PM1 high end loudspeaker designed specifically for music

Bowers & Wilkins have long been in the loudspeaker business making many quality products for the amateur and audiophiles out there. Now the B&W PM1 high end loudspeaker, designed specifically for music has been revealed.

The team over at What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision are reporting that the latest product to come from the British speaker manufacturer will set you back £1995 a pair. B&W have made the point of stating the PM1 has been designed as a purely stereo speaker for music.

For the time being there will be no centre, rears or subwoofer that can be added to the single stand mounter for home theatre use. The new model falls in between the CM range and the 800 Diamond series. Product manager for B&W Mike Gough said “there’s no market for a fourth, full B&W range.”

He added there may be the chance of a stereo floor stander in the future if demand requires it. A large amount of work has gone into developing the new model with design firm Native, who also played a part with the Zeppelin and P5 Headphones.

The PM1 has a carbon braced tweeter with the aluminum dome stiffened with carbon fiber, which raises the frequency up to 40 KHz. Below this you will find the midrange driver with the familiar Kevlar cone which is also found on the CM1. The PM1 is expected to hit dealers next month. Hit the link above for more information.
