BT 1Gbps FTTP broadband cost and two hour connection

Well, it’s finally here, as BT officially launches its 1Gbps FTTP (fibre-to-the-premises) broadband. This means that instead of getting a maximum of 330Mbps, this has now been increased to 1Gbps. There are two speed options in all, and that is up to 500Mbps with upload speeds of 165Mbps and 1Gbps, with uploads of 220Mbps.

As for the cost of these two BT FTTP broadband options, these are £55 per month and £80 per month for up to 500Mbps and 1Gbps respectively. OK, so the price of the latter is a bit high, although we are sure many businesses out there will be only too welcome to part with that money in order to benefit from such a speed increase.

However, before you decide you might want to look at the connection fee, as BT is to charge £500, which seems like a ludicrous price. On the plus side, rather than multiple visits like before, BT will be able to get you connected in a single two hour appointment.

BT also revealed some other news, and that’s how they have upgraded those with an up to 38Mbps connection to 76Mbps free of charge.
