Brief Me: Social network and media news in one app

Many of us now have more than one social networking account, and keeping on top of everything that is happening can be an arduous task. But now help is at hand from an application that has been worked on for over a year. Brief me not only has all you social networking content it also provides news from the likes of the BBC as well, and is available for Android and iOS devices.

This clever application beautifully combines content from Facebook and Twitter, alongside premium media providers such as Google Reader. Users are also provided with Facebook and Twitter tools so they can like, retweet, comment and post without ever leaving the application. Another great thing is the application is completely free to download.

Users can get an easy view of what is going on via the Dashboard, and get news from topics that matter to them in real time. Topics are made up from social networks, RSS feeds, premium media partners, Twitter searched terms or hashtags, and Twitter users.

Some of the premium media partners include BBC World, FOX News, TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb, Gizmodo, and many more. RSS feeds can be added by the user, and up to seven social networking sites can be posted to at the same time by users.

An Alert Widget is accessible via the dashboard and is available in two sizes, mini and large. This allows the user to use what is best to fit on the available space on the user’s dashboard. Custom categories are easily created by the user in real time, and feeds are added in no time directly from Google Search, Google Reader, and selections of news sources.

The application has been designed for tablets and smartphones with even a version for Android Honeycomb. Users of iOS devices can find the application on the App Store. Click here for the Android version, and here for the Android Honeycomb version.
