Brabus Range Rover pickup an abomination

There are some vehicles that should never be made, and the Range Rover pickup is one of them. We have seen some conversions of this over time, although the Land Rover Defender seems to pull this little trick off a little better, seeing as these are more in line with what the vehicle is about.

It’s for this reason why we just cannot understand what possessed Brabus to create its very own Startech Range Rover pickup, as it’s an abomination. We really do think it looks that bad, and that is only looking at the render — just wait until you get to see it in person at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show next week.

We guess it would not be as bad if the pickup bed was a full size one, as it would then look a slightly better, but going with a short bed option makes the proportions look weird, but it would seem Brabus Startech is oblivious to this.

Looking at the images (thanks to Autoblog) you can see how the roof has been cut away in order to make room for the pickup bed, and it was not as simple as just cutting away, as Brabus had to fit around 100 new components in order to make this aftermarket option work.

That is not the only modification made to this SUV, as it now sits on 23-inch rims, has a wider stance along with new air suspension, as well as a custom exhaust and interior. Then there is the small matter of its engine, which will be a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, which helps to push out 526 horsepower.

What do you think of this conversion job?
