BMW M4 vs. Mercedes C63 AMG, not next-gen

Whenever a new car is coming to market we know that it will be compared to its nearest rival, but we do not think it is fair to put it up against a vehicle that is a due of a revamp. This is just the case with a recent BMW M4 vs. Mercedes C63 AMG comparison test drive, as the M4 is the latest and greatest from BMW, whereas the C63 AMG is the current-gen, and we know that Mercedes is already working on the next-gen model.

Be that as it may, seeing as though the next generation Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is yet to hit the market, we guess it can only be compared to its nearest rival at this time, which is just what Autocar has done.

We know this is a contradiction of what we said, but we just needed to put both points across, as we know many of you will be thinking the same thing, which can clearly be seen in some of the negative comments on the Autocar article.

The start of the video review looks at how the M4 and C63 AMG compares in terms of price, and while the latter is cheaper, once you add in some needed optional extras, the review finds that the two vehicles soon become equally matched.

BMW M4 vs. Mercedes C63 AMG

We do have an issue with the review as a whole because we feel, as do those comments, that it focuses too much on one thing, and that is the engine. A lot of time in each car has been spent talking about the sound, performance and delivery of the engine, and to us it just seems a little too much. Okay, so we know these cars are about the power, but there is also much more to these two vehicles.

Also, focusing on how old the tech and engine are in the C63 is a shame seeing as we know Mercedes has some awesome things planned for the next-gen model.

Having said that, it is rather interesting to see the review still hold a candle to the C63 because the M4 is said to fail when it comes to knocking you to the floor like the C63 does. This could be because the technology in the Mercedes is that little bit older and so goes about things in a different way, whereas the BMW has had to make sacrifices in order to comply with latest EU legislations.

How do you think the next-gen Mercedes C63 AMG will compare to the BMW M4?
