BlackBerry X10 QWERTY spotted on Verizon

We have some more BlackBerry 10 news to bring you now, as the whole world waits to see what RIM has to offer with their highly anticipated BlackBerry 10 unveiling on January 30. We recently gave you a preview of the upcoming BlackBerry Lisbon, but now we have some additional details on the BlackBerry X10, or in this case – some new pictures of the QWERTY based device for you to enjoy.

So far we have seen initial leaks for the BlackBerry Lisbon, BlackBerry London and the BlackBerry X10. The first two mentioned are touchscreen devices, but the X10 will be returning to RIM’s roots by being the first BlackBerry 10 phone with a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Specific information on the X10 such as hardware features are still unknown at this point, but we would hope that the device will feature a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor at the very least like the BlackBerry Lisbon and NFC features for instant sharing with other BlackBerry 10 devices nearby.

Since the focus will be on physical typing with the keyboard, we have a feeling that we won’t see an 8 megapixel camera like the Lisbon and London are rumored to include, but obviously we hope we are wrong on this. New pictures have confirmed however that there will be a front-facing camera of some variety, so it at least confirms that the X10 will be able to make use of the new BlackBerry 10 video chat interface that some of you may have already seen recently.

Two new images of the device have been provided by CrackBerry and although they are not the most glamorous of pictures, there is one major discussion point worth mentioning. If you look at the top right corner of the first image, you’ll see display text on screen which reads ‘Verizon Wireless’.

Big Red has already confirmed that they’ll be supporting the launch of BB10 by bringing some devices to their network, and it now seems possible that the BlackBerry X10 could be one of the first in line. The company are still to this day selling the old BlackBerry Bold and Curve phones on their online website, so it will be great to see the likes of the X10 kick start a new era for Verizon fans who still have love for a physical QWERTY phone above all other touchscreen-based devices.

Would you be interested in buying the BlackBerry X10 if it came to Verizon Wireless in the first part of 2013? How important is a physical QWERTY keyboard to you?
