We have some interesting news to bring you now, as a fresh report has revealed that the main reason the BlackBerry Playbook tablet is still not out, is due to Apple and the fact that they had acquired the majority of the touch panel screen production capacity.
The device will finally see a release on April 19th, but most of you who had hoped to buy one know too well that it was due to come out in the early part of 2011. Instead, the Playbook will now launch at the expense of Apple it seems, one month after they released their iPad 2.
The report over at Digitimes states that RIM had trouble securing touch panel screens for the Playbook, due to the fact that Apple had already booked up the ‘lion’s share’ of the touch panel production allowance, most of which we’re guessing were used on the iPad 2.
If you have been set on buying a Playbook since last year, how do you feel knowing that it has been delayed due to Apple and their dominance in the industry? You can read the full article over at AppleInsider for more information.
