BlackBerry PlayBook: Reasons For Recall and Poor Sales

Yesterday we informed you that RIM was to recall 1000 BlackBerry PlayBook devices, we can now tell you the reasons for this recall, as well as an update as to the poor sales of Android tablet devices. Thankfully most of the units had not been sold, so at least this will not be a recall where users will have to part with their device for a certain amount of time.

Having said that, a few will have to. The reason for the recall was due to the operating system, which AppleInsider learned had a defective build. However, this will not have anything to do with poor sales that is all down to be being rushed to the market. The reason why was due to the fact that RIM must have felts pressured into doing so, as they were being left behind in the tablet market.

Nvidia CEO has been speaking out as to why sales of Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets have been so low as well. The Motorola Xoom on paper looked to be a true contender to the Apple iPad, but Jen-Hsun Huang believes that it should have been released as a Wi-Fi only option.

We should not look too much into these poor sales figures, future Android tablets will learn from previous mistakes and bring with them new and improved features. We know one thing; Android is not dominating the tablet market, as they are the smartphone market.

Why do you think that sales of other tablets cannot compete with the iPad?
