As you will have noticed if you have been reading our latest news, RIM the company responsible for the BlackBerry devices are in a spot of bother and cutbacks are being made. The company’s business has also found itself under a little more pressure from the imminent release of the Verizon iPhone 5.
On Friday the 7” BlackBerry PlayBook finally began filling shelves in the UK. Until recently the device was only available to North Americans. However at the moment it is only available on Vodafone and so far there have been no other confirmations from other network carriers in the UK, though O2 have confirmed they won’t be selling the tablet.
According to the article at ZDNet Orange have stated that they may be launching the device at some point but no specific dates or price details for that matter have been unveiled. When the PlayBook finally goes on sale at Vodafone it will cost £399. It is thought that in order for the sales to do well the playbook will need to be released with more carriers.
Meanwhile the PlayBook as it comes lacks one of the most popular mobile device game Angry Birds. This could affect the sales although the likelihood is it won’t; besides there is a way to get the game on the BlackBerry tablet anyway. Check out the link to see how.
Do you think the lack of Angry Birds could affect sales? Are more UK operators needed to help aid the sales? Will you be getting a PlayBook with Vodafone?
