Up until now the 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC has only been available in the United States and Canada. That is all about to change however; as Research in Motion (RIM) has recently announced that the BlackBerry PlayBook will in fact be coming to 16 other countries soon.
According to Hugo Miller over on the Bloomberg.com website, Ontario-based RIM recently issued a statement that announced that within the next 30 days, the BlackBerry PlayBook will become available in 16 new markets including the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
The company is of course hoping that the PlayBook’s international launch goes a bit smoother than the US and Canadian launch. The PlayBook tablet was met with mixed reviews from technology columnists when it was first released, with many suggesting that RIM rushed the device’s release.
It was also criticized for its network connectivity, the lack of a standalone email program, and the shortage of consumer apps. Just last month the company recalled around 1000 BlackBerry PlayBooks, which as we mentioned in a previous article was due to a problem with the operating system.
Other countries that can expect the BlackBerry PlayBook soon include Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, Indonesia, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, India, Hong Kong, Venezuela and United Arab Emirates. Are you waiting to get your hands on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet?
