Are you starting to get excited about BlackBerry 10 yet? The OS is due to be formally unveiled at a press event on January 30, when we will finally see a glimpse of the first wave of smartphones that will feature the new operating system on board. There has been no sign of disinterest among consumers and now we’re pleased to say that all of the major carriers in the US have now given their backing to BlackBerry 10 as well.
That means that come January 30, RIM will take to the stage and show off a collection of devices – two of which we may have already heard about if they turn out to be the touchscreen based BlackBerry London, and also the QWERTY-based BlackBerry X10. All eyes will be on whether carriers will get each respective handset on an exclusive deal, or if all four carriers in the US will offer the handsets all at once.
T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon have all recently confirmed that they’ll be supporting BlackBerry 10 upon launch and now we’ve heard that Sprint are also planning to join the BlackBerry 10 club as well. Considering that all four carriers mentioned have previously released BlackBerry devices in the past, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see them all committed for the new revamp with BB10.
What handset will be released first? We hope it is the touchscreen model as that one looks far more luxurious than the QWERTY X10 we feel. Specifics are obviously still unknown at this point, but at least we don’t have long to wait until the event. Let us know your thoughts on RIM’s big event and if you see yourself dropping the likes of the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy phones to move over to a new BlackBerry 10 device.
