Black Ops zombies: new world record set for Ascension

It has been almost five months since the First Strike map pack hit Xbox Live, since then we have seen some great rounds on the Ascension zombie map, however whilst searching YouTube I spotted a video which I thought would interest our readers.

The video titled ‘Ascension WORLD RECORD 6/25/11’ was uploaded just two days ago by a YouTube user called TheJimbogobo (check out his channel for yourself here), the video shows the latter part of a game where he managed to reach round 154, he accomplished this impressive feat playing solo and overtook the previous record which was set by another YouTube user with the alias ‘TheRelaxingEnd’, his video showed him reaching round 148 and was submitted almost three weeks ago.

We have embedded the video showing TheJimbogobo reach round 154 at the end of this post, like TheRelaxingEnd’s video it relies heavily on ronding up the zombies and then blowing them away with the zeus cannon, in total he racked up 20,010 kills and earned 2,978,310npoints, this took him a total of 75 hours and 53 minutes.

It seems as if not going insane after such a lot of gameplay was a harder task than reaching this level, he does in fact say that before reaching level 154 he only lost one quick revive, also by the time he reached the latter part of his game it would take over an hour per round.

To our knowledge 154 is the highest round anyone has ever reach on Ascension (both for single and multiplayer gamers), now we tend to see more people playing the Call of the Dead zombie map which came as part of the Escalation map pack, also tomorrow the Shangri-La zombie map will hit Xbox Live as part of the Annihilation map pack, therefore we wonder whether anybody will ever attempt to outdo the current Ascension world record.

Some people speculated that the video may be fake, however two of the most accomplished zombie players out there have commented on the video therefore we doubt it, interestingly one of the players reached round 151, but killed himself (in the game not real life) as he couldn’t do it longer, this suggests that time consumption is the main factor in this record being regarded as such an achievement.

Do you think this record will ever be broken?
