Revolution is the first DLC map pack for Black Ops 2 and Xbox 360 Season Pass members will have the opportunity to play it this week on January 29. There are five maps on the way, comprising of four multiplayer maps and a brand new zombie map called Die Rise to play. Now we have some early hands-on gameplay for you to take a look at, giving you an extended preview of how the Downhill map will play like.
While the new multiplayer maps are going to be a welcome addition to the addictive multiplayer portion, there’s no doubt that a good majority of Black Ops 2 owners are buying Revolution solely to play Die Rise zombies, or specifically the new Turned mode that Treyarch will debut with the upcoming content.
Turned will give players the opportunity to play as a zombie for the very first time, in an all new gameplay mode where zombie players have to hunt down a sole human in the team in a tag-based format. Treyarch has once again kept Die Rise a complete secret, with no information known on the map other than the fact that it’s set in China, but we do have some brief hints of the type of gameplay you can expect to see.
Polygon has managed to get a sneaky hands-on preview of Revolution, and aside from providing some early footage of Downhill that we have for you below, they have also spoken briefly about Die Rise zombies as well. The main emphasis of the map will be verticality and they’ve said that players will start the map on the top of a high skyscraper.
Players will then have to work together to work their way down the building, obviously trying to avoid the hordes of zombies in the process. We can also tell you that there will be quicker ways to descent down the building, but they will be at a risk to your health if you choose to opt for them.
Otherwise, it looks like elevators will be the standard method of progressing down the map, and this also relates to our previous article when we revealed that perk machines like Speed Cola will be located inside elevators as well, another first for the successful zombie series.
What are your thoughts on this new verticality approach to zombies? Check out the footage of Downhill below and let us know if you’ll be downloading Revolution tomorrow.
