Bitstrips comic app successful launch

Several days ago saw the launch of the updated version of Bitstrips comic app, version 1.17, and since then has gone on to become a huge success. We have seen it go from obscurity to being the number one free app on the App Store and Google Play. So why has the launch been so successful?

The Bitstrips app, which has also been a bit hit on Facebook allows you to customize your avatar, and boasts the best creation tool to do so. We all know how people like to have full control over something, and so having this much freedom is one of the reasons why the Bitstrips app for Android and iOS has become so poplar. Just to give you an idea, the latest version of the app has been downloaded more than 10 million times, and there is no sign of this slowing down.

Even when it was first released several months ago, Bitstrips proved very popular for schools, which was helped by a huge presence on Facebook. What we find most fascinating about its success is how there has been no paid advertising, which just shows you the pure power of social media.

However, that is not saying all is perfect, as it is clear there are still a few problems with the Bitstrips comic app, as we’ve seen comments like “the app keeps closing, and so makes it hard to offer a review.”

There does seem to be a theme with the Bitstrips issues, as another Product Reviews reader has said that “In order to fully enjoy the app the bugs need to be resolved, although it is easy to see its true potential.”

Looking to the future, it does not take an expert to see that the next step is to monetize this cartoon app, which could mean native ads. This might not go down well with Bitstrips iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android device users, but this is something we have come to expect from free apps.

What to expect from the next Bitstrips app update? Apart from those bugs there is also a need for more strips to show and adding visuals to a Facebook post would be rather cool. There has also been a demand for “more faces and clothes.”

If you have any more ideas for the Bitstrips comic app then we would appreciate it if you would share them below.
