Microsoft has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make its Bing search engine better than ever, and today they have released an improved version, as this Bing search engine update brings with it some much-needed advancements, and also simplifies Maps for directions.
It’s taken Microsoft a long time to add a feature that Google users have enjoyed for a while now, but better late than never. This feature is to show you the quickest route with details on travel time and distance, which means you no longer have to use Bing Maps for this feature, as it integrates the technology into the main search engine, along with an option for turn-by-turn directions.
Google has also had the quick answers feature that Microsoft has just brought to the Bing search. This will mean that results will now reveal local information like phone numbers, opening hours, along with directions.
In order for the phone number to appear in the search results you will need to include the word phone to your search query. Bing will try to give you the phone number of the business closest to where you are located, which is ideal if there are several of these business types.
Do you think Microsoft is making any progress, or are they hurting themselves by constantly playing catch-up?
