BF3 Back to Karkand DLC: Release date confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

We have some great news for Battlefield 3 owners now, as EA DICE has given an official release date for the soon to be released Back to Karkand DLC expansion pack for the game which adds a multitude of brand new content to the shooter.

If you didn’t know already, Back to Karkand will be a timed-exclusive for the PS3, as they will be getting the content one week early before the Xbox 360 and PC. We can now tell you that the pack will release on Tuesday December 6th for PS3, and the following week on December 13th for the PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

We have told you many times what content will be included in the pack, but as a quick refresh, you’ll be getting four remade maps from Battlefield 2 which are Gulf of Oman, Strike at Karkand, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island. You’ll also get 10 new weapons and three new vehicles to use in game, one of the new vehicles includes a very cool-looking skid loader APC which will allow you to take out enemy aircraft as you move across the field.

If you have the PlayStation 3 version of the game, you’ll be able to see what new weapons are included in the Back to Karkand DLC pack already, as the recent patch update for the game also included a pre-load of the upcoming DLC. Just head into your customize menu and you’ll see that there are new menus for weapons such as the QBU-88 sniper rifle and the other new weapons on the list. For those that are wondering, this was one of the main reasons why the 756MB patch update was so big, and it means that there will not be a big install next Tuesday as the content will already be on your system.

Also new in Back to Karkand is the Assignments mode which gives players new tasks to complete in return for a new weapon and a couple of dog tags. You can find out more about this on the Battlefield Blog here. Don’t forget that Back to Karkand is a free download for those with the Limited Edition version of the game, for everyone else it will cost $14.99/1200 MSP to download.

Are you looking forward to adding the Back to Karkand maps into your regular BF3 map rotation?
