While I do prefer playing multiplayer games on my very own screen, it is nice to have a change sometimes and play split-screen. Although being able to see what the other player is doing and where they are going, can turn out to be rather distracting.
However, according to an article by Brian Ashcraft over at kotaku.com, it may not be a problem with future technologies. While participating in a recent interview with Develop, SCEE’s studio director Mike Hocking spoke about new technologies the company is working on.
This reportedly includes holographic techniques for the PlayStation 3, which Hocking said will be interesting for future 3D titles. The technology they are working on will allow 2 gamers to play on the same screen, but without being able to see the view of the other player.
While it all sounds pretty exciting, gamesradar.com points out that we shouldn’t expect a PS3 HoloMove to be arriving any time in the near future. How do you like the sound of holographic gaming in the future? Maybe you like the sound of a holographic 3D TV to play them on too.
