Best Hurricane Irene tracker / path app, The Weather Channel

Hurricane Irene is the first to form in the Atlantic in 2011, although it is the ninth storm so far. Formed in the Caribbean and has since gained in strength. For those of you who are worried about the projected path of the hurricane, then you will want to use The Weather Channel App, as it is one of the best on the App Store thanks to its tracker feature.

The app can draw from the experience of 200 or so meteorologists, offering updated details on not only Irene but also all other storms and hurricanes to hit the Atlantic. The app, which is available for all iOS devices offers a future forecast of where these weather systems are heading, which allows you to plan ahead.

When using the app for everyday weather reports it not only gives you 15-minute forecasts but also Push Notifications as well. In order for you not to see ads you will need to purchase the paid version — although the fee is nominal. This is a small price to pay when the weather plays such an important part of your day.

When there is the threat that Hurricane Irene could be headed towards you or a loved one it is much better to know in advance. We know that there are numerous weather reports throughout the day, but these are no good if you are not in front of your TV. With apps like The Weather Channel you will have instant access while on the go.

Some of the main features include: interactive maps, video of breaking news, upload and view photos and videos, hourly and 10-day forecasts, and the ability to upload your local weather to your Facebook wall.
