BBM pins with Instagram used for exchange

The very idea of using BBM pins on your iPad or smartphone would be for security and only allowing people you know to add you to the chat service, but it seems some users don’t mind being a little more public with their BBM pins.

Popular photo service, Instagram, has featured a number of tags related to BlackBerry Messenger for many months. Some of these tags have gone viral since the BBM app released on iPad, iPhone and Android.

You only need to look at this page for the Instagram “BBMPin”, which reveals just how open some people are with their BBM pins. You can see hundreds of pictures boys and girls are sharing of their BBM pins.

What are your thoughts on BBM Pin sharing going viral on Instagram? Do you think this is a great way for people to connect, or do you think these users are mad for sharing their BBM pins so openly?

Running a search for hashtag BBM reveals even more pins, and at a guess we would expect there to be more than 10,000 pins already shared. Some blogs claim there could even be well over 100,000 BBM pins shared on Instagram at the time of writing with thousands being added each week.
