BBM for Android release time

It has been a long wait so it will be nice to finally see BBM for Android coming to the platform over the weekend. What it so great is the fact the largest platform is getting the app first, with its rival coming just a day later. There could be various reasons why this is, but we believe it is because BlackBerry does not wish to put too much pressure on their servers all at once, and so would rather ease into it. So the question on everyone’s mind is what is the date and release time?

BBM for Android release time is 4am PDT, 7am EDT and 12pm BST on September 21, 2013, which is a Saturday. The app will be available as a free download and will work on Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.

We should not underestimate how popular BBM for Android will be, and as such Samsung has already started to promote the service on one of their Facebook pages. Okay, so we know some of you will question the importance of BBM when there are other message services already on the market, but none of them come close to BlackBerry Messenger.

Security is far better on BBM, and so are the features, and there is also the fact that so many young people use the service and said this is the one feature they miss since leaving BlackBerry to get their hands on better phones.

No doubt the first version of BBM on other platforms apart from BlackBerry will come with limited options, but there are already updates planned, two of which will be BBM Video and Voice calling.

Will you be downloading BBM for Android on Saturday, and if not please tell us why that is?

I’ll definitely be downloading it on my HTC ONE when it hits the playstore. BBM and their awesome keyboard are the two features that I miss since I last used a BB device in 2009. Although swiftKey has compensated for the keyboard and whatsapp has held it down for messaging, I still have A LOT of friends who still use BBM on their blackberry device; especially because of the data discount they get via BIS.

“and if not please tell us why that is?”

I’ve never used it. I would imagine those of the corporate or `90’s?? will.

I don’t know anyone who uses a blackberry, and those who had, have made the switch to another mssg client. 3 little words, too much trouble.
