At first a few people thought the wait for BBM on iPhone would cause the Android release date to be delayed, and this is thanks to Apple’s slower review process. It now seems that the blame for delay is the other way around, and BlackBerry issued an official announcement in regard to the BBM Android release date not arriving yesterday.
In a blog post, BlackBerry delivers a BBM for Android and iPhone update. They explain that before they launch BBM for Android some work needs to be done to clean up mess created by an unreleased version of the software.
BlackBerry praise the fact that BBM for Android has already had 1.1m active users from this unreleased version, but they need to clean things up before launching the official BBM for Android app.
BBM for iPhone should have been live today on iTunes and the App Store, and while we believe the unreleased version was for Android only, it seems this problem will cause a delay to BlackBerry Messenger releasing on iOS.
The clue lies in the fact that BlackBerry said, “continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone”. They stated this after a staggered country roll-out of the BBM on Android version, so it seems likely that the iPhone app will be delayed a little unless it does launch today with Android around the same time.
Keep connected to Product Reviews and we will publish the new BBM for Android and iOS release time, or at least the moment both apps go live. There’s no word on a Windows Phone version just yet, although considering the message is BBM For All, you can expect the download to launch at some point.
If you saw our previous post about the confirmed release time, then you need to ignore these times thanks to the update from BlackBerry reporting a delay.
