The BBC.co.uk homepage is down today and running in a simplified form and this joins the problems plaguing iPlayer since yesterday. If you go to the official BBC.co.uk homepage you’ll see it isn’t working correctly right away, and this can be seen thanks to a “simplified version” being shown until the issues are fixed by their developers.
We’ve included a quick screenshot below this article that reveals the so-called simplified version, and if you are a regular user of the BBC homepage it will be clear how different things look. There’s currently no way to access the full version most of you have come to know.
You’ll be directed to visit BBC News, or to explore other sections via a list of links. It also isn’t clear if the BBC homepage has been hacked along with iPlayer, although there’s been no reports of such other than rumors floating around on Twitter.

How long have you seen the BBC homepage down in a simplified form? Are you a regular user of their website?
An email has been sent to the BBC asking for clarification when the service might return and why both iPlayer and their homepage were facing problems at the same time. We haven’t heard anything at the time of publishing.
