Battlefield 4 Xbox One DLC shows EA u-turn too

Battlefield 4 looks like it is going to be an amazing game and definitely one that will meet expectations after the excellent Battlefield 3. However, what you may have missed during E3 is the fact that the game is seemingly going to set up camp on Microsoft’s Xbox consoles now, with the confirmation of a timed-exclusive DLC pack called Second Assault.

In a week where we have had a massive u-turn from Microsoft with regards to their Xbox One DRM restrictions, it looks like EA has made a complete u-turn of their own too after previously offering DLC first to PS3 owners of Battlefield 3. Instead, just like FIFA 14, you’ll be able to play Battlefield 4 DLC content first on the Xbox One version of the game.

Full details haven’t been disclosed yet, but it looks Second Assault is going to be a pack comprised of remakes from some of the popular BF3 maps. This may include the likes of Caspian Border and Noshahr Canals, remade using the new Frostbite 3 engine for Battlefield 4.

It now means that both Call of Duty and Battlefield 4 DLC content is going to be arriving on Xbox One first, before Sony PS4 owners have the chance to play it. We’ve all heard the age old saying ‘money talks’ before, but it really does in Microsoft’s case – they were really not joking when they said they had a ‘ton’ of exclusives on their books.

How do PlayStation fans and Battlefield lovers feel about this though, after previously forking out on a PS3 premium subscription on BF3 for early access to the expansion packs? We have a feeling that EA may announce another Premium subscription for BF4 again, but this time Xbox will get the content before PlayStation.
