Battlefield 3 multiplayer details – no killstreaks

While war-shooters are at the core of interest for a large percentage of gamers at the moment it seems as if each game needs something unique to split it from the pack, one thing which EA has revealed is that Battlefield 3 will not feature killstreak rewards, this was reported by GamersGuideToLife in a recent article.

The niche aspect we think Battlefield want to go for, is one that creates a more realistic and tactical exchange of warfare, instead of an all out trigger-happy arcade experience. The makers said this: “We don’t really have killstreaks – it’s not that type of ‘arcadey’ game. A good player will get rewards for everything”.

This meaning that headshots and covering fire will be rewarded for, which is good if you are a tactical player. However this is not strictly ruling out those gamers that do like to roam around openly chasing the opponent. They also said: “every type of player can find their place on the battlefield, from twitch-kill ’14-year-olds’ to the player who wants to play more slowly, more tactically”.

It certainly looks like developers are keen to make Battlefield 3 deliver an experience which renders the same type of action which we would expect to see in a real war, we think this should create an explosively tense online experience. What do you think?
