Battlefield 3 class balance, snipers get scope reflection & sway

When playing first-person shooters online it is sometimes obvious that certain classes have an unfair edge when compared to others. When we heard that Battlefield 3 would allow snipers to lay down (aka prone) we were a little worried that this could potentially ruin the multiplayer experience, however we are now hearing that EA DICE’s developers are doing things to balance things out.

A recent article posted on Battlefield03 tells us that developers have taken action to balance out their prone ability by giving them scope reflection and sway. This means that snipers who do not move a lot will give away their position thanks to scope reflection, this is a great way of combating camping in our opinion.

When it comes to scope sway this is something we have seen in other games such as lots of games in the Call of Duty series, we think that this is a realistic way of combating snipers sitting back and picking off multiple enemies in quick succession, perhaps on consoles you will have to hold in the analog stick to hold your breath for a limited time to keep the crosshair steady.

This news was revealed on a podcast where DICE’s community manager, Daniel Matros, spoke to Dont Revive Me Bro, you can listen to the full podcast for yourself here. Check it out and then feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section at the end of this post, are you happy with EA DICE’s attempts to balance the sniper class?

If you think that you will be sniping when playing Battlefield 3 you may want to know what weapons will be at your disposal, if you head over to BF3Blog you can find out all about which sniper rifles you will be able to destroy the enemy with, so far we can confirm that the M24, M95, Barrert M95, Type 88, SV 98 and MK11 will be available, people seem disappointed that there has been no mention of the L96A1 or CheyTac M200 Intervention are you?

With over 3 months between now and when Battlefield 3 arrives it is clear that developers have lots of time to finely tweak and balance multiplayer gameplay, when we hear of proposed changes and improvements we will keep you informed, are you happy with the way that Battlefield 3 is shaping up?
