Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC release date update and gameplay

We have some great news for those of you who are looking forward to picking up the Back to Karkand DLC for Battlefield 3. EA has just released a gameplay video for the upcoming expansion pack and have also revealed when the new content will be out.

For those of you that don’t know, Back to Karkand was originally supposed to come out with Battlefield 3 at launch, but it turned out that the new content wasn’t quite ready. Thankfully gamers won’t have too long to wait as the trailer confirms that Back to Karkand will release sometime in December.

As a further reminder, the pack will be free to those that bought the Limited Edition version of Battlefield 3, but if you just have the standard version, you’ll have to pay £11.99, $14.99, or 1200 points to get it. The pack will consist of four remade maps from Battlefield 2, as well as 10 new weapons, 3 new vehicles and even the addition of the Conquest Assault mode as well. The four maps in question to refresh your memory are Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and the Sharqi Peninsula.

As for the gameplay, it is pretty stunning to say the least and an awesome reminder of how good those maps really were in Battlefield 2. We see some of the new weapons and vehicles teased as well, and even more destructible carnage that we have seen in current BF3 – if that is even possible.

Hopefully we will have a solid release date to bring you in EA’s next teaser for the pack, as for now they are just saying December. What we would like to know in the meantime, is what map out of the four are you most looking forward to playing – we’re guessing that most of you loved Sharqi Peninsula, so will this be the most played map in Back to Karkand? Once we have a detailed weapon and vehicle list, we’ll bring that to you as well.
