Batman Arkham Origins multiplayer mode debatable

We have some further details on the highly anticipated Batman Arkham Origins game to tell you about now and it is mixed news. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were two games that focused entirely on the single player aspect of the game, with no multiplayer portion attached to either. However, we’re hearing strong reports that this is about to change in a big way with the arrival of Arkham Origins, with multiplayer set to be a key part of the game.

For those that are still not aware, Batman Arkham Origins is actually the first game in the series not to be developed by popular studio Rocksteady. We initially thought that the famed developer was coming back to oversee Origins, but the game is actually going to be developed by Warner Bros Montreal instead – a team that previously oversaw development on the Wii U version of Arkham City.

If that debatable change wasn’t enough to digest, a new article published by Kotaku suggests that multiplayer is definitely happening too, and will see players being able to choose from the good guys or two teams of villains. Batman and Robin will obviously be on the crime-fighting side, but multiplayer within Origins will also allow players to choose from a Joker or Bane team as well.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Kotaku has also mentioned that their source for this information was also previously correct in naming the ‘Origin’ title of the new game before it was announced and also correctly describing the game’s box art as well which appeared over at Game Informer as part of the global unveil.

The big question is though – do you really want to play multiplayer with the next Batman Arkham game? We say this because the last two games have been very successful indeed without multiplayer, so should the formula be changed if it isn’t broken? Time will tell when we get the first glimpse of the mode, but it does make us wonder if Rocksteady would have included multiplayer as well if they were developing.

Multiplayer for Batman Arkham Origins or not? Let us know your thoughts on the debate below.
