Over the last year we’ve seen some really big named websites going down, and also networking services for gaming providers, with none being bigger than the disaster Sony faced thanks to hackers. Microsoft even faced a few problems today with the Xbox live services going down for a couple of hours, although all seems to be fine now.
At the time of writing Bank of America has an outage, which is not due to hackers although this was the first thought by those that couldn’t access their important banking services. Users were met with an outage screen that offers an apology and states that they are working to bring services bank online “as quickly as possible”. You can see an image of this screen below.
This article reports that while Bank of America is down today, there is no set time for everything to get back to normal. One spokesperson for BoA said the problems are not limited to certain areas with complaints coming in from South Carolina to Seattle and to Connecticut, and are causing issues for a wide range of services and regions. The fix is currently being worked on.
What we know so far is the downtime had been caused by some routine upgrades made over last weekend. Let us know if you have been affected by the outage today. Did you find any workarounds?
