Whether it is described as ‘Facebook but for sex’ or ‘the world’s largest social network for meeting new people’ Badoo is undeniably becoming hugely popular and is now officially the fourth largest social network in the world. The news comes as its total number of users surpassed 130 million worldwide recently.
The site works exactly the same as any other social network does except it encourages flirting as well as chatting to new people. Users can sign up for the site as you would normally and can even use their Facebook account to login. The seemingly taboo Badoo has one million users in the UK alone and in a recent British study which involved 85,000 of these users, 30% of them admitted to having met someone for sex using the social networking site.
Each month the site’s services are used by 51 million unique users with 125,000 new ones signing up each day. Despite its popularity one of the major issues users have with the site for the moment is privacy settings. It appears that email addresses can be viewed by anyone, as well as interests, so if you’re thinking about cheating on a spouse then be warned that they could potentially find out what you’re up to with a simple Google search.
Depending on where you live determines how Badoo is marketed. In some countries the site asks whether you are interested in men or women when you initially register. According to Daily Mail, it has become one of the 65 most visited sites and is most likely to become more popular as the issues it has get ironed out. This site seems to be the perfect way for single people to meet new people that are potentially looking for partners themselves.
