Avengers Alliance iOS app dated, Facebook transfers needed

If you consider yourself to be a big Marvel fan, there is no doubt that you would have already played the hit Facebook game, Avengers Alliance. It is has grown into a massive online game and arguably the most popular game that is available on Facebook through the browser.

Now, we bring you the amazing news that Avengers Alliance is finally getting an official mobile version. At the moment, the only way to play right now is via Facebook, or through the Playdom website – the developers of the game. Fans have been requesting a mobile app for months now and it looks like iOS users at least are set to be very happy indeed.

Marvel and Disney have announced that Avengers Alliance is coming to iOS devices on June 13, as seen over at USAToday. Unfortunately, there is no information on when the game will be out for Android, or indeed if there are plans in place to make users pay for the app. The biggest information that has been left out of the news though, is whether Facebook players will be able to transfer their accounts over to the mobile version, or if they will have to start fresh.

If they have to start fresh, we can bet that many won’t be interested by this, especially if they are already close to level 300 on the Facebook version and have already unlocked all of the heroes and most of the costumes – otherwise, what’s the incentive? Having seen the game first hand, we also hope that the mobile version doesn’t fall victim to the same painful money-making schemes, as some may be witnessing right now on the desktop version with Playdom’s focus seemingly switching over to the PVP element of the game, rather than the main story mode.

To coincide with the release of the iOS app, we can also confirm that Season 2 of Avengers Alliance will be going live on June 18, with Moon Knight and Squirrel Girl some of the new heroes that will be featured. At the moment, Juggernaut has just become available, so let’s hope that some of the big requests such as Blade and Venom will also be making an appearance throughout Season 2.

If you regularly play the desktop version, let us know your thoughts on the upcoming iOS app. Will you download the app if you can link your account with Facebook, but have to pay a fee to install?
