ATI Radeon HD 6000 Release Schedule: Cayman to follow

The ATI HD 5700 series now seems to have passed its sell-by-date, so it was inevitable that the GPU maker would work on a successor soon. We have learned of a rumor that the ATI Radeon HD 6000 series will be the replacement and we have a release schedule for the computer hardware.

The codenames for these new graphics cards are to be called Barts, and according to VR-Zone who learned from Turkish website Donanimhaber, Cayman will follow after. They believe that Barts will launch in October and Cayman in November.

The Antilles will be the flagship GPU and is expected to be called the ATI Radeon HD 6970. If we are to believe the rumor, then this will be a dual-GPU Cayman card and will be released in December — just in time for the holiday season then.

The list of codenames for future ATI cards is as follows: Cayman, Antilles, Blackcomb, Barts, Whistler, Onega, Turks, Seymour, Caicos and Caspian, for more detail visit VR-Zone.
