Roughly a week ago we posted an article which introduced you to the ASUS UX21 notebook, its specs and design impressed our readers and some are dubbing it the Windows equivalent of the MacBook Air, now we are hearing some exciting news about its price.
Let’s start by saying that a definite price has not been set-in-stone by ASUS or retailers, however Engadget recently sourced some information from the Commercial Times which suggests that the UX21 will cost less than $1,000, currently the 11-inch MacBook Air models start at $999 so it looks like ASUS want to make the UX21 a direct competitor.
When you take into account the specs inside the UX21 you will agree that the price is pretty impressive, however we wouldn’t be too surprised if Apple respond in the near future by unveiling a refreshed MacBook Air line-up which also boasts second-gen Intel Core processors.
As Engadget point out it seems as if ASUS are keen to push current pricing boundaries, recently we saw the MeeGo-based ASUS Eee PC X101 priced at just $200 and now we are seeing a high-end ultrathin cost under $1000, surely other notebook manufacturers will have to take notice?
When we hear official details from ASUS regarding the UX21’s price and release date we will keep you posted, will you buy the UX21 if it costs under $1000?
