Back in May there was an issue with the Galaxy S II that passed us by, as there was a screen circle problem. We first thought that it was just a random problem, but we were mistaken. It now seems as though there is an assembly line fault for the Samsung Galaxy S II (aka S2). We have to wonder if this could delay the U.S. release of this Android handset?
Now we cannot say for certain how widespread this problem is, but it cannot be as bad as we fear, or there would be more media attention by now. The mark is not large, but it is just big enough to become a nuisance. It is round in shape and can only been seen in certain conditions on the screen.
When the problem was first reported on XDA Developers more people started to complain, the reason for this is because they did not notice it at first, not until it had been pointed out to them. You can say that it is a bit like owning a certain make of vehicle, you then start to notice that make all the more.
From what we have heard it seems that a suction cup used in assembly caused the circle. This would be the machine that places the glass display onto the case before it is glued in. The mark is said to fade in time, but we cannot say for certain how long. So if you do see a circle do not panic, just leave it at least another week before you contact where you purchased your Galaxy S II from.
However, it seems that Amazon will not wait and have already replaced one person’s handset. Wirefresh is a little disappointed with the response from Samsung, as they have yet to reply to their email.
This is not the first screen issue, as there were reports of a yellowish tint. Again we were told that this was part of the manufacturing process and would disappear over time. If you cast your mind back to June 2010, there was a very similar case with the iPhone 4.
We would very much like to know if you have a Samsung Galaxy S II aka S2 and if it has a small circle on the screen? We have to wonder why this issue is only now starting to get noticed, when it was reported last month?
