Assassin’s Creed 5: Comet details disappointment?

The latest Assassin’s Creed: 5 Comet rumors have recently suggested that the theme will be Templar sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. We already know that the rumors of AC5 Unity being set in the French revolution have been confirmed, but have these leaked Comet details disappointed fans?

The first thing to look at is what player expectation is for Assassin’s Creed 5, it does look likely that Unity will dedicate itself to next gen and Comet to current gen platforms. The long rumored locations from AC5 was Feudal Japan and Ancient Egypt, which at the time seemed very popular environments with players.

Kotaku first reported the Assassin’s Creed 5: Unity details a few days before the news was officially confirmed by Ubisoft. It is likely their follow up Comet report is also accurate meaning that Xbox 360 and PS3 players will be sailing the Atlantic in late 2014. It could be argued that Comet may be too similar to AC4 Black Flag which focused on piracy, repeat content is never going to be good no matter what the game.

The initial reaction to Unity being set during the French revolution has been generally positive so far, until Comet is officially revealed we are unable to know for sure what the majority of fans think. Will the same nautical theme put you off buying Comet due to it being too much like Black Flag, or do you want to sail the Atlantic to destinations like 1758 New York?

Let us know your thoughts on this Assassin’s Creed 5 news, what was the ultimate location you wanted the game to be set in?
