Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag teased with Pirates poster

Are you ready for the next entry in Ubisoft’s successful Assassin’s Creed franchise? Some of you may still be working through Assassin’s Creed 3, but it looks like we are just days away from an official Assassin’s Creed IV unveiling. Lucky for you, it appears that the title of the game will be Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, since posters are already appearing showing the title in question.

Ubisoft has already said that another Assassin’s Creed game is on the way, but they haven’t said whether it will be released this year or next year. One thing that is fairly certain though, is that the next installment will be landing on next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft – possibly the Wii U as well since AC3 landed on Nintendo’s system.

While there appears to be a media blackout in place preventing Assassin’s Creed 4 details from slipping, Kotaku has gone ahead anyway and revealed a Black Flag poster, appearing to show the main protagonist of the game as well as a pirate themed setting. We can see the action takes place on a boat, while there is also a rather tactically placed pirate flag as well in the background.

Is there a danger though that this game is coming too soon after Assassin’s Creed 3? If we see the game officially announced at E3 2013, for a release in 2014 then that would be welcomed, but how many of you are still playing AC3 regularly? There’s also the question on whether Ubisoft are going to release this on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well, since other Ubisoft developers are using the same tactics by bringing the highly anticipated Watch Dogs to both current gen and next-gen as well.

Take a look at the poster through the link above and let us know your thoughts on a possible, but likely pirate setting for the game. Would you have liked to see something different, or are you excited about a pirate themed Assassin’s Creed 4?
