Asda is known for being a popular food supermarket, but also has some amazing deals on electronics like big screen TVs, tablets, and other goods. The staff work hard to deliver the best service possible to customers in most circumstances, so hearing there could be staff redundancies at Asda won’t go down well with these employees.
After some retailers had an amazing Christmas, it looks like Asda didn’t do as well and will now need to make redundancies due to competitors having a “better Christmas period”. If you have been impacted by redundancy in the past, then you know how this fear will be hurting Asda workers right now.
At some point this week you will likely see Asda announce the redundancy news and it’s not clear if the company stepping away from Black Friday had an impact. Some will say it clearly did, while others would think it didn’t have an impact.
Currently, Asda employs around 170,000 people in the UK and about 3,000 of this figure are made up at their head office. The good news for some, is that the redundancies will mainly be focused towards their Leeds head office.
Do you think Asda should have done Black Friday last year? When Wal-Mart updates Wall Street in February, then you can expect details from Asda in regard to how well they performed over the last few months. You can read a quote on Sky News from Asda.
