Are the stories about Nintendo 3DS illnesses exaggerated?

The Nintendo 3DS has been getting a lot of press the last couple of days, with ‘stories’ of people complaining of headaches and dizziness while using the console.

Now we are not saying these reports are not true, but wondered if we are seeing the whole picture. The 3DS has sold a bucket load of units since it was released, and many people have already told us that they have had no problems using the console.

Retailers in the UK have also rubbished earlier reports that thousands of 3DSs were being returned by owners, Nintendo themselves have refuted these claims. So it begs the question are we only seeing the odd bad report in the press instead of all the good ones?

We have decided to run a poll amongst Nintendo 3DS owners which you can see below.

Honestly you shouldn't play with the 3D on if you can't watch an hour long 3D movie at the theater… I start to get eye strain after playing for 6 hours straight but that was because I got a little to into face raiders and nintendogs… Also people always respond more to the negative than the positive…

Alternatively, if the 3D effects are hurting you, then switch off the 3D effects. You have the choice of this and it is very simple, just with a slide of a button.

Yes, i agree, the 3D effect does create a new sensation, which many people are not used to. I read about the warning beforehand, possible headaches, not recommended for kids under 6 yrs of age, screwing up people's vision, etc. I knew all this and i still bought on. Plan on keeping it. Anyone who bought one without knowing the side-effects would be foolish. Warnings are posted everywhere.
