Archos GamePad 2 specs confirmed with price

The Archos GamePad 2 specs reveal everything has moved up a level since the first generation hybrid tablet for gamers, and with the new GamePad for 2013 you will benefit from a 7-inch IPS HD screen, faster Quad-Core CPU and graphics processor, 2GB of RAM and a lot more at just under £180 with a release date at the end of this month.

You will find a lot more improvements than just the specs bump above and these new features arrive thanks to learning a lot from the original launch. Archos GamePad 2 delivers portable gaming with a bigger battery, better controls and a better partnership with games developers.

In fact, the GamePad 2 includes two pre-installed games from Gameloft. You will find both Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour and Asphalt 8: Airborne already on the built-in storage as an extra for those that purchase the new gaming handheld this year.

Archos made the GamePad 2 for gaming and this is evident right away after you look at the HD IPS screen with a 1280×800 resolution. This display delivers a good gaming experience from many viewing angles and really good colors.

You will find the battery life is greatly improved on the Archos GamePad 2 and this is helped by a larger battery, 28-nanometer processor technology and software enhancements. This means you can game for more hours and browse the web for even longer.

The photos on this page reveal the GamePad 2 features up close and also the improved controls. The buttons feel better when clicking, you’ll love the single part directional pad, double buttons on both shoulders, and the incurved dual thumb-sticks.

Gamers will be able to browse the Google Play Store via the special ARCHOS GamePad Game Zone. This area features over one million games and apps for the ARCHOS GamePad, so you won’t have a problem finding some great games in minutes.

There is no need to worry about storage thanks to a microSD slot and options of 16GB or 8GB built-in storage. You will be able to install app2sd with SD cards, and the importance of this is well known for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners.

You can see a quick video featuring the two free games installed on Archos GamePad 2 right out of the box. Find out more on

Everything sounds great on paper, but we look forward to seeing how the Archos GamePad 2 performs in real world tests in the coming weeks.
