Apps for St. Patricks Day 2011

This coming Thursday sees the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the patron saint of Ireland, and we have rounded up a few applications for you to help get the most out of the day.

St Patrick’s Day for owners of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is a free application that has a whole host of information about this great day. The app tells you the real story behind the celebration, and all the traditions associated with it. From the parades and how to tell a good pint of Guinness this app has it.

St. Patrick’s Recipes is great for people who want to create some tasty Irish dishes. From appetizers, main and side dishes, and delicious desserts there is something for everyone. There are recipes for Irish Soda Bread, traditional Irish stew, traditional Irish and Irish-American, and much more. This costs $0.99/£0.59 for iOS devices.

A really fun application is Limericks, which provides users with comical Irish limericks at a touch of a button. They were written by Victorian artist Edward Lear, and give’s you poetry in your pocket. This app is available for $0.99.

For Android owners there is a free St. Patrick’s Live Wallpaper which is flashy and fun to look at, and is available on the Android Market.
