Apple TV gift hints 4th gen release

The Apple TV 4th gen release has been given another hint after a gift card deal was introduced on the current gen models. Consumers looking to pick up Apple’s set top box will get a free iTunes gift card granting $25 credit, with sales possibly looking to be boosted before a new model is announced.

Apple’s next TV streamer has been heavily tipped to arrive this spring, this has also been hinted in a Best Buy leak. The rumored new features the 4th gen Apple TV would bring are tipped to be gaming capabilities, greater mobile connectivity, a larger selection of apps with a wider range of streaming services and a TV tuner.

According to reports from 9to5mac, Apple are running this promotion until March 5th, looking for quick fire sales on the Apple TV. There has been talk that Apple were still negotiating with Time Warner on content offerings which was a factor holding the new release back.

Apple TV 4th generation release and gaming expectations

Several retailers have slash the prices of their Apple TV sets which could hint at some inside information about a new release coming soon. Apple CEO Tim Cook has already confirmed that the company will be releasing new categories in 2014 and it is believed that Apple TV will be promoted to a main product category opposed to the accessory that it is now.

The fact that Apple TV has not been updated for around 2 years strengthens the chances of an upgrade, especially with streaming and 4K content becoming even more popular. If the 4th gen Apple TV can offer a stunning line up of new features, including the App Store for 3rd party content, then the demand for Apple to launch an HD TV will subside.

Do you feel that this Apple promotion is a ploy to maximize Apple TV sales before the new model is announced soon?
