Apple Press Event: And now for something else, iPad 3?

You always know when we are getting close to a new Apple product being launched as we start to hear various rumors and speculation emerging. Some of it doesn’t come to anything but some does prove to be accurate, and makes you wonder if it’s just some really clever marketing by Apple. Today we have rumors of an Apple press event that is believed to be focusing on iBooks, but could we also see something else such as the iPad 3?

Late last month we brought you rumors that Apple could be launching two new versions of the iPad early this year. One of these was thought to be a more affordable option that would basically be an upgraded iPad 2, which would coincide with the release of an all new model.

Now according to an article here, sources are claiming that Apple are to hold an event in New York at the end of this month. It has to be stressed that no event has been officially confirmed and it is claimed to focus on a media related announcement, and not to any new hardware.

Only yesterday we had a report suggesting the iPad 3 and even the reported iTV will not see the light of day anytime soon. But experience with Apple will tell us that they always like to come up with the unexpected, and quite often at a press event just when you think it is all over they come out with the phrase, ‘and now for something else’.

Apple have been busy in New York with its recently opened store in Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal, and has also been working on its store on Fifth Avenue. Last year it had an event to help launch the online magazine The Daily, and this year could be showcasing content that is ideal for the iPad.

Do you think Apple will surprise everyone with a launch of a new iPad in New York?
