Apple OS and A4 Chip: Not Just iPhone and iPad

If we were to mention Apple iPhone OS and the A4 Chip two devices will come to mind, the iPhone and the new iPad tablet device. We know that the iPhone is the only device to use the OS and that currently the upcoming iPad is the only product to use the A4 chip.

However, we have recently learned that this could be about to change and that other devices non Apple devices could have the option of running this new piece of hardware or ever-popular operating system. Apple do not normally offer its technology to other platforms, but if they do not want to be left behind by the likes of Google Android, then this change was inevitable.

There is no denying that the iPhone OS is one of the best mobile operating systems on the market, so the idea of another brand of handset running the same OS as the iPhone is very exiting. If TUAW’s article is true, then this could cause a series headache for the likes of Symbian and Windows Mobile, who are already under intense pressure in this competitive market.
