Apple Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Features & Developer Release Live

In August 2009 Apple released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, today they released a developer preview of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, apparently this OS brings some features from the iPad to the Mac along with a lot of new features.

According to Apple’s press info the iPad has been a huge influence in the development of Lion, new features include Mission Control, Launchpad, full-screen apps and support for new multi-touch gestures, also the recently launched Mac App Store comes with Lion as standard.

Obviously features like full-screen apps and new multi-touch gesture support are self-explanatory, however Mission Control and Launchpad are a bit less-obvious, however we can confirm that Mission Control shows you an innovative view of what’s running on your Mac, whilst Launchpad is a front-end for all of your Mac apps.

Other new features and improvements include a new iPad-inspired version of Mail, a new feature called AirDrop, which allows quick and easy copying of files wirelessly (no setup required), another feature called Versions, which lets you browse through previous versions of documents, you can find out fully detailed information about all of these features plus more here.

Which feature do you like the sound of the most? I must admit full-screen apps will be one thing I will certainly be using, in case you were wondering OS X 10.7 Lion should go public this summer.
