Apple iTunes: Song Sample Time Trebled

Do you like to listen to iTunes song samples before buying a track? If so, you may be glad to hear that Apple will soon extend the amount of sample time you get.

Up until now Apple allowed you to listen to just 30 seconds of a track, however soon music previews on most tracks will last 90 seconds.

From what we can see this change will only affect the iTunes Store in the United States, at the moment there is no sign as to when this will be rolled out in different countries, I guess it all depends on negotiations with record labels.

The 90 second samples will only be available on tracks which last over 2 minutes and 30 seconds, any track shorter than this will only have a 30 second sample.

This change will undoubtedly be popular with iTunes users who live in the United States, it will be interesting to see if this bumps iTunes sales up, or has an adverse affect.
