Apple iPhone 5 rumors suggest it will serve as a world phone

A few hours ago we suggested that the iPhone 5 may feature 3-4 internal antennas, now we will look at this rumor in more detail and what it could mean for people across the globe.

According to AppleInsider the next iPhone may be a world phone, this means that it will be compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks to allow connectivity pretty much no-matter where you are in the world. This will make the next-gen iPhone Apple’s first-ever world phone.

Obviously like any iPhone 5 rumors we can’t take this too seriously just yet, however if the iPhone 5 does feature both GSM and CDMA internals it will make the manufacturing process a lot less staggering as the same hardware should run on both AT&T and Verizon (and other carriers).

The 3-4 internal antennas should eliminate the reception issues which hounded the iPhone 4 upon launch, perhaps this will be highlight during Apple’s keynote next week at WWDC 2011, however we have previously heard that the iPhone 5 might not show up until later in the year.

We would love to hear your thoughts on whether the iPhone 5 should be a world phone, therefore feel free to share your thoughts and concerns in the comments section below.
