For the first time in Apple’s iPhone adventure in the US, the new and improved iPhone 4S will be landing on three US carriers instead of two. Sprint will now be joining the AT&T and Verizon versions of the device, and it appears as if fighting talk has already begun.
We can predict that it is going to be a highly competitive battle between the three carriers as they all try to come up with the best deal to tempt customers into being the next member of their vital subscriber bases.
It looks like AT&T are first to step up to the plate just days after the iPhone 4S announcement, as CEO Ralph de la Vega has given consumers a few reasons why the AT&T iPhone 4S will be the best version of the three from his company’s point of view.
Here is a portion of his statement, as taken from AT&T’s press release available to view in full on their website:
“We can’t wait for our customers to experience the incredible new iPhone 4S on our 4G network and enjoy download speeds of up to twice as fast. When you combine the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network with iPhone 4S, as well as our new pricing for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, we think we have the best iPhone line up in the industry.”
The key information to pick out there of course is ‘download speeds of up to twice as fast’. This is AT&T basically saying that their HSPA network will be able to churn out faster speeds than Sprint and Verizon for the iPhone 4S, as their version will both utilize the EV-DO 3G network. For those of you that regularly download data, it could be a vital ingredient for your decision on which version to pick up. However, consumers are well aware that AT&T are not the best network when it comes to overall service and customer satisfaction.
Then of course, you have to take into consideration that Sprint also has unlimited data for the iPhone 4S, while AT&T and Verizon will not offer this for new iPhone 4S buyers. AT&T may have the fastest 3G network, but unlimited data is a big deal for many consumers in today’s world so you definitely have a tough decision to make.
What are your thoughts on the comments from AT&T’s CEO. Do you think that the AT&T version is best out of the three or not?
