Apple Announcement: iPad 2 to release in 25 more countries

While we’ve known that the Apple iPad 2 was to release in more countries this Friday, Apple have made it official with a press release on their website. This news will be some comfort to those that were worried of a delay in the launch for other countries, which was due to a complete sellout in the United States and buyers hunting high and low for a 2nd generation iPad.

Apple explain that the new iPad will go live at 5pm local time, for Apple stores, and 1am for the online website. The question for potential buyers should be where you’ll buy the device? If you opt for the online option, you could be greeted with a delay in shipping thanks to massive demand like there was in the U.S. While the Apple stores are likely to have limited stock, and massive lines outside. What will you do?

You can read full iPad 2 pricing and availability in the press release found here, which also explains that Apple are going to sell the iPad 2 in Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, and additional counties from April. The countries that get the Apple tablet this Friday include; UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Hungary, Greece, Germany, France, Finland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Canada, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.

The new iPad will be up to 15 percent lighter and 33 percent thinner than the first generation, and will include an A5 dual-core processor, which is also rumored to be coming to the new iPhone 5, following WWDC 2011. The iPad 2 will also feature two cameras, which will be perfect for FaceTime calls on the larger iPad display.
